My name is Michael Burgess, and on behalf of the Genesis United Methodist Church in Leeds, Alabama, I welcome you to our website. We have worked very hard to create a website that is designed with you in mind. We hope that you will find our site to be informative as well as easy to use.
The first thing you will probably want to know about our church is what we stand for. Well, we stand for a lot of things, of course. We believe in the Bible. We believe in salvation. We believe in forgiveness of sins. But that’s not all. We also believe in hope and we believe in grace and we believe in reconciliation and we believe in worship and we believe in service and we believe in prayer and we believe in the Holy Spirit. We even believe that the church, as weak and as fallible as it sometimes is, continues to be the Lord’s chosen vessel through which we have been called to worship and serve in the world. In fact, we believe in so many things that it could take up most of our website just to tell you all the things we do believe in.
But know this. First and foremost, we stand for Jesus Christ.
That is important for you to know. It is our belief in Jesus Christ that guides and gives life to everything else we believe and stand for here at Genesis. We believe that God the Father really did love the world so very much that he sent his only Son that we may have hope for a new life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come. That is why it has always been one of my personal mottoes that the Good News really ought to sound like it is indeed good news.
We invite you to experience worship with us on Sunday mornings at 10:45 a.m., and we invite you to find your place in our ministries and various life groups. But we also invite you to take the blessings you receive in worship and these other places back home with you to share with others when you leave.
